In this issue of Para Bellum we offer two games set in the first half of the 17th century in Italy: a game by Nicola Contardi on the Second War of Monferrato, a topic never simulated before, as often happens on Para Bellum, and a second edition of Marco Campari’s game on the battle of Ottagio 1625.

La Seconda Guerra del Monferrato ("The Second War of Montferrat") is a historical simulation game designed for two players: the Pro-France Faction and the Pro-Spain Faction. Players command units on the map, engaging and trying to solve all the problems faced by the commanders of the time, their historical counterparts, and trying to reach the victory conditions.

Ottaggio 1625 is a Tactical level two-player board-wargame that simulates the battle fought on 9th April 1625 between the forces of the Duchy of Savoy, allied to the Kingdom of France, and those of the Republic of Genoa, allied to the Kingdom of Spain, in Ottaggio during the First Genoese-Savoyard War.
